Western officials, intelligence agencies and experts fear possible terrorist attacks during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This became known to The New York Times.
Former UN official and current adviser to the non-governmental Counterterrorism Project Edmund Fitton-Brown said the Games would be an excellent target for terrorists.
According to the NYT, representatives of Western intelligence agencies agree with him. In their opinion, there are many sleeper cells of the Islamic State in Europe. (ISIS, a terrorist organization banned in Russia).
The Summer Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians were allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the 2024 Games.
