Di María spoke to the press after Argentina’s 3-0 victory over El Salvador last Saturday. Even with the positive result, the midfielder highlighted the lack of Lionel Messi for the current world champion team – the number 10 suffered an injury to his right leg and had to be cut from the national team’s squad list.
Even though he was sad about his teammate’s absence, the Benfica player brought a positive point to the situation.
“Leo is always missed. Having the best in history, being able to train and play with him is great. It’s a shame that this (injury) happened to him now, but we have to be calm. It’s better that it happened now and be well for the Copa América”, he told “DSPORTS”.
The 2022 world champion didn’t need Lionel Messi to confirm her favoritism against El Salvador, easily overcoming the opponent. The goals of the match were scored by Romero, Enzo Fernández and Lo Celso.
The Argentines return to the field next Wednesday for the last Data Fifa friendly, against Chile, in Los Angeles, USA.
