Fans held a rally of support at the match between Zenit and Red Star in Belgrade
At the friendly match between Zenit and Red Star in Belgrade, a support rally was held. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
Fans of Red Star held a performance about Russian-Serbian friendship: they demonstrated the tricolors of the countries, hung a banner with the inscription “Brothers forever” with the image of a warrior. The players also took a joint photo with the inscription “Together” in the background. In addition, local artists sang “Katyusha”.
The match began with a minute of silence in memory of those killed in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall; the players entered the field wearing mourning armbands. On the podium there was a banner “Moscow. 22.03. We mourn.”
Earlier, Zenit explained why they did not cancel the friendly match – they called it a match of memory and unity. “Football unites and saves, so the game will take place and begin with a minute of silence. The teams will play in mourning armbands,” the message noted.
On the evening of March 22, a terrorist attack occurred in the Crocus City Hall near Moscow. Unidentified people in camouflage uniforms opened targeted fire from machine guns at those who came to the concert of the Picnic group. Later, explosions occurred in the building and a fire started.
