President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe announced the cancellation of the remaining races of the Russian Championship. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The cause was a terrorist attack that occurred in the Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow region. The head of the FLGR clarified that the competition will not be rescheduled to other days.
Crocus City Hall was attacked on Friday evening, March 22. At least five terrorists armed with machine guns entered the building and opened targeted fire on those inside. According to preliminary data from the FSB, 40 people became victims of the terrorist attack, and more than a hundred were injured.
The Russian cross-country skiing championship was held in the village of Kononovskaya, Arkhangelsk region. On March 23, the women’s race was supposed to take place from a general start, and the men’s race a day later.
