Manchester City has two offers for João Cancelo, loaned to Barcelona

João Cancelo has a loan relationship with Barcelona until the end of this season. The right-back, who belongs to the Manchester City, is a fundamental piece in the defensive sector of Xavi’s team and, therefore, the Catalans intend to extend the Portuguese’s contract. According to the Spanish newspaper SportsCity, for now, has no intention of letting the full-back go out on loan again and is already looking at two offers to sell the player.

The first would be from the English internal market, coming from Arsenal. The London club wants to sign the player and understands that Manchester City will not release him for less than 40 million euros (217.74 million reais at the current price). The other offer comes from Saudi Arabia, for values that fit the full-back’s assessment.

Given this, Barça left the negotiations in the hands of his agent, Jorge Mendes, and considers the player’s desire to continue at the Spanish club for another season as an asset.

In this sense, Barcelona intends to extend the loan, but is willing to offer something else in return, such as a mandatory purchase option given the difficulty of the situation.

This season, João Cancelo has four goals and four assists in a total of 32 matches. For the Portuguese national team, the player is on the list of 32 athletes called up by Roberto Martínez for the preparatory games for the Euro-2024 against Sweden and Slovenia, on the 21st and 26th of this month.
