With 2 goals from the former Flamengo player, Tottenham is defeated by Fulham and loses the chance to enter the English G4

Tottenham missed a great opportunity to enter the G4 of the English Championship, the classification zone for the Champions League, this Saturday, when they were defeated by Fulham, at Craven Cottage, 3-0, in the 29th round of the competition. The goals of the match were scored by Brazilian Rodrigo Muniz (2), ex-Flamengo, and Serbian Lukic.

Tottenham will only return to the field on the 30th, after the FIFA date for the March friendlies, against Luton Town, at home, in the English Championship. The same goes for Fulham, who will visit Sheffield United.

Fulham start better

Just two minutes into the match, Brazilian Andreas Pereira, called up by coach Dorival Júnior for the Brazilian team, almost opened the scoring for Fulham. The attacking midfielder took advantage of the surplus at the edge of the area to hit firmly, looking for the corner. He even had a deflection in defense before seeing the ball hit the post.

Fulham managed to control Tottenham well in the first half, but only managed to open the scoring just before the break, in the 42nd minute, when Rodrigo Muniz received a great cross from Antonee Robinson, dominated inside the area and played with class to put the owners of house advantage.

2nd half of even more superiority for the home team

Anyone who expected a reaction from Tottenham in the second half was disappointed. Right at the beginning of the second half, Fulham expanded with Lukic, who deflected Castagne’s mid-range cross to beat the opposing goalkeeper and make the home team even more comfortable in the game.

Not satisfied, Fulham players still scored the third goal 15 minutes into the second half. After a corner kick, Bassey controlled the ball inside the area and spun, hitting the post. On the rebound, Rodrigo Muniz arrived before the Tottenham defense to finish the ball in the way he found the back of the net.

The elastic victory turned into a rout three minutes later. Palhinha received it from Adarabioyo and released his foot, blowing the net, but the referee disallowed Fulham’s fourth goal due to an offside by Raúl Jiménez, who touched the ball before it passed the goalkeeper.

From then on, Fulham only had to manage the great advantage built up throughout the game to secure the important victory over Tottenham at Craven Cottage, which moves the team away from the bottom of the English Championship. Spurs, with the setback, remain in fifth place and could see Aston Villa, in fourth place, open up a five-point lead in the table.
