He Baskonia ha lostthis Thursday, 94-76, in Kaunas, against Zalgirisin the thirty-first day of the regular phase of the Euroleague of the 2023-24 season. After a match in which Dusko Ivanovic’s men were not successful in their outside shots, the Vitorian team remains with 16 victories, in the 31 games he has played already in the regular phase, and provisionally occupies ninth place in the classificationwithout yet being able to definitively secure their place in the play-in.
The Basque team has only been able to score four triples, all in the third quarter, and they have suffered internally with the physical power of Kevarrius Hayes, who has scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and the scoring capacity and good direction of the game by Keenan Evans, author of 20 points for Zalgiris Kaunas. For Baskonia, Matt Costello’s sparks have given hope to the Alava squad, which has not been able to play as it wanted in the capital of Lithuania.
The 25-17 score in the first quarter gave way to 48-34 at half-time, in which Baskonia tried to correct its difficulties in attack. Already in the third quarter, Ivanovic’s team was within six points, but Zalgiris Kaunas, comfortable in exchanging baskets, has once again extended its advantage, and has claimed a clear victory.
Baskonia receives Anadolu Efes, in Vitoria-Gasteiz, next Thursday, on matchday 32, and visits Real Madrid, on April 5, on the penultimate matchday. The Basque team closes the regular phase of the Euroleague on April 12, in Bologna.
