The fourth stage of the 103rd edition of the Volta a Catalunya featured a breakaway, which the peloton had to work to neutralize. Among others, Urko Berrade (Kern Pharma) and a veteran like Thomas De Gendt (Lotto Dstny) have entered it; With about 20 kilometers to go, Luis Ángel Maté, from Euskaltel-Euskadi, tried, but was caught when there were around ten kilometers left to go.
