Gymnast Nikita Nagorny said that the Friendship Games are more important to him than the Olympics
Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Nikita Nagorny compared the importance of the 2024 Summer Games in Paris and the Friendship Games scheduled for September. He is quoted by TASS.
According to the athlete, competitions in Russia are personally more important to him than the tournament in France. “The Friendship Games will be very important for my career, which is nearing the end. All my relatives and friends can come to this tournament, which will be held in Moscow,” the athlete noted.
On March 7, it became known that Russian gymnasts would miss the 2024 Olympic Games. Representatives of the country lost the opportunity to qualify for the tournament in Paris after missing the World Cup stage in Baku.
The Friendship Games will be held in September in Moscow and Yekaterinburg and include competitions in 33 Olympic and non-Olympic sports. In February, Russian Deputy Sports Minister Alexei Morozov said that representatives from 34 countries would take part in the tournament.
