The place of detention of Spartak player Quincy Promes was described with the phrase “hell on earth”
It became known about the conditions in the Dubai prison where Spartak legionnaire Quincy Promes is being held. This was reported by De Telegraaf with reference to The Sun.
Former British prisoner Billy Hood described this place in one phrase – “hell on earth.” He said there were terrible conditions there, overcrowded cells, lack of food and torture from lack of sleep. It is noted that Promes may be treated better, since the footballer did not commit serious crimes in Dubai itself.
On March 13, Promes was arrested in Dubai at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office. It was clarified that the detention was related to the possibility of further extradition of the player to the country.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai Airport for being involved in an accident and leaving the scene. Later it was clarified that the football player would not be sentenced to prison in the UAE – he would be punished with a fine.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison for drug smuggling. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison in his homeland for attacking his brother with a knife.
