Sport24: Quincy Promes will be extradited to the Netherlands within two to three months
The Dubai law firm Noura Almaazmi Advocates & Legal Consultants spoke about the conditions for the extradition of Spartak legionnaire Quincy Promes to the Netherlands. The commentary is provided by Sport24.
“If another country has requested extradition, then in 90 percent of cases the person will be extradited to the state that made the request,” the organization said. It is noted that in the footballer’s situation there is no reason to refuse extradition to the Netherlands.
The law firm added that the process is slow due to the large number of bureaucratic procedures and Ramadan. Promes is expected to be extradited within two to three months.
On March 13, Promes was arrested in Dubai at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office for further extradition. The 32-year-old striker was taken into custody.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai airport for being involved in an accident and leaving the scene. Later it was clarified that the football player would not be sentenced to prison in the UAE – he would be punished with a fine. In the Netherlands, he faces a total of 7.5 years in prison for attacking his brother and drug smuggling.
