Bronze medalist of the Sochi Games in biathlon Garanichev announced his retirement
Russian biathlete Evgeny Garanichev announced his retirement. His words are quoted by the Tyumen Arena Telegram channel.
Garanichev said that the current season will be the last in his career. “Life doesn’t end here, I will continue to develop further and remain needed in the Tyumen region. I will try to find myself in sports, but in a different role,” he shared.
Garanichev is a bronze medalist at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi in the individual race. He also has three gold, three silver and two bronze medals at the European Championships.
Russians and Belarusians do not participate in international competitions by decision of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). The order came into force in March 2022 and will remain in effect until further notice.
