Commentator Guberniev was banned from living in a house in Malinovka during the Chechen Ski Championships

Sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev was evicted onto the street from his house at the stadium in Malinovka during the Russian (ChR) ski championship. The Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) responded in this way to the commentator’s criticism of itself – Guberniev accused the organization of an incident with 17 injured athletes at the Spartakiad in Sochi.

The good people from the FLGR forbade me to live in a house at the stadium in Malinovka while skiing in the Chechen Republic, violated the agreement and evicted me onto the street… Again, the caps are burning on the thieves… Good people, where to live now?

Reacting to being evicted from his house, the journalist joked that he would have to pitch a tent and live on the street, “delighting the wonderful people from FLGR [Федерации лыжных гонок России]” The 2022 Olympic relay champion Veronika Stepanova invited Guberniev to live in her house with Anastasia Faleeva. However, she set the condition – to wear their skis and clean up the room. Guberniev jokingly agreed to the invitation.

The scandal erupted after an incident at the Spartakiad in Sochi on March 8. During the race, there was a massive collapse; two dozen skiers were injured in the race. The head of the FLGR, Elena Vyalbe, said that the low level of female athletes is to blame for the massive failure. One of the mass start participants said that such statements by Vyalbe are humiliating for athletes.

Guberniev did not agree with Vyalbe’s opinion and called the people who decided to hold the race criminals. According to him, the race took place on a biathlon track in the opposite direction.

Those people who made the decision to hold the race – employees of the Ministry of Sports, flight director Belomestnov, Elena Vyalbe, you are just criminals, understand? I believe that you must answer to the law

Guberniev announced that after such statements by senior officials in the federation, all of Russia saw that “there is chaos, fraud and irresponsibility in skiing.” In his opinion, officials shifted responsibility and blamed the children for the incident.

Three-time Olympic champion Yulia Chepalova also spoke out about the incident. Her daughter Vaselina Rocheva ran in the mass start in Sochi, avoiding getting caught in a blockage. The champion said that the race was held in extremely dangerous conditions and should have been cancelled. “I have horror in my soul! Are you completely out of touch with reality?!” — the famous athlete commented on the situation.

The senior coach of the Russian cross-country skiing team called Guberniev a bastard

The skirmish between the federation and Guberniev spilled over into the Telegram channel of the group of the senior coach of the Russian cross-country skiing team, Yegor Sorin. Sorin called the jury’s decision to hold the races, despite the difficult weather conditions, correct. “Egor, aren’t you ashamed to defend scoundrels? So, purely humanly?” — Guberniev wrote to him in the comments. In response to this, Sorin called the journalist a scoundrel and said that he was not behaving like a man.

Dmitry, you are the bastard. You throw mud at people, using your capabilities on TV, before the end of the official check and assessment of the actions of the people who are responsible for holding the race and the Spartakiad as a whole

Guberniev later responded to Sorin. The journalist said that he felt sorry for the coach and called him a serf. “He lives under serfdom. Naturally, now he will defend the interests of the landowner. Yegor Sorin knows that he can be sold, lost at cards,” he considered.

And also for the serf trainer Sorin, his masters and minions! Until the investigation is completed, am I not allowed to call the people who did this to our children scoundrels? And they can already blame the children, young skiers for what happened, who, they say, turned out to be unprepared for the competition and were scared? I understand correctly? Maybe the organizers should be given a prize and thanked for the Spartakiad?

The commentator also recalled that a journalist is obliged to draw public attention to current problems and help people. “Whoever doesn’t understand all this is Yegor Sorin,” Guberniev concluded.
