Coach Valery Karpin said that he had not received any offers from Spartak
The head coach of the Russian national team and Rostov, Valery Karpin, answered the question about returning to Spartak. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Karpin said that he had not received any offers from the red and white. “Were there any calls from a Moscow club during the autograph session? No. And before, too,” he noted.
Earlier it was reported that the decision to resign the Spartak coach, Spaniard Guillermo Abascal, had already been made. Former head coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov, Vladimir Ivich from Krasnodar and Braga coach Arthur Jorge are named as contenders for the post.
Karpin coached Spartak from 2009 to 2014. Under his leadership, the team twice won silver in the Russian Championship. After 20 rounds of the Russian Premier League of the 2023/2024 season, Spartak has 31 points and ranks sixth in the standings.
