Russian mixed style (MMA) fighter Bibert Tumenov was transferred from intensive care to a regular ward at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine. The head of the Absolute Championship Akhmat (ACA) promotion, Alexey Yatsenko, told RIA Novosti.
Yatsenko said that the athlete faces a long recovery. He emphasized that Tumenov would not be able to appear in the Octagon for a long time.
The fighter was admitted to intensive care before the fight in Moscow at the ASA 172 tournament on March 9. Then the athlete underwent several operations.
On March 9, Tumenov was supposed to fight with compatriot Kurban Taigibov as part of the ASA Featherweight Grand Prix in Moscow. As a result, Taigibov reached the finals of the tournament, where he will meet with the undefeated fighter Islam Omarov.
Tumenov has 13 victories and two defeats in fights according to the rules of mixed martial arts. Taigibov has 14 wins and three losses.
