The plan assumed that Polish jumpers were to board a chartered plane after the competition in Willingen at the end of January. They were to travel from Frankfurt to Beijing. But as it was found out, this plan completely failed.
People from PZN are roaring. “It is unthinkable”
– We’re all out on the ice. Why? Because the Chinese side does not allow any foreign planes at the moment and each flight, including those carrying accredited ones to the Olympics, must be thoroughly reported, justified, etc. Acceptance to fly to Beijing from a small group of several airlines has been received. It turned out that the one hired by the FIS did not receive permission to cross the border. But why only now? – explains PaweÅ‚ Witczak, logistics expert in
– What the organizers of this Olympics make up and make everything difficult is unthinkable – adds Witczak. – The situation seemed very, very bad at first. Instead of having peace of mind, suddenly we were left on the ice – Jan Winkiel, the secretary of PZN, echoes him.
Now he is faced with the task of organizing Polish transport to. The task is very difficult. First of all, there are very few airlines that have permission to enter China. In addition, the Chinese demand a negative test, and it should be performed in the country of departure. If this does not happen, you will have to ask the Chinese embassy for permission to come to Beijing.
PZN already has an initial contingency plan. The Poles are to fly Air China from Milan to Beijing on January 31. Immediately after the competition, the Polish team will have to get from Willingen to Italy. The Poles will not have time to do the test in Italy.
– These are puzzles in which one element can fall over and the whole thing will fall into ruins. But we will also be prepared for this, plan C will also be created – argues Witczak.
The Winter Olympics in Beijing are scheduled to start on February 4 and run until February 20, 2022. This will make Beijing the first city in history to host both summer and winter Olympic games.
