The German Bayer snatched a draw from the Azerbaijani Qarabag in the first match of the 1/8 finals of the Europa League. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
The meeting took place at the Republican Stadium named after Tofik Bahramov in Baku and ended with a score of 2:2. The first goal was scored by home team striker Yassin Benzia in the 26th minute. In the second stoppage time of the first half, Juninho increased the team’s lead. In the 70th, Florian Wirtz reduced Bayer’s deficit, and in the second minute added to the second half, Patrik Schick equalized the score. Thus, Qarabag missed the victory.
The return match will take place on March 14. It will start at 23:00 Moscow time.
