Swedish skier Halfvarsson is thinking about retiring due to low income
Swedish skier Kalle Halfvarsson is thinking about retiring due to low wages. His words are quoted by Expressen.
“I need to provide income so that I can live with two children, a house and everything else. This winter it was not possible to obtain significant income,” the athlete complained. He added that he could earn much more by giving up competition and concentrating on any other activity.
Halfvarsson is a three-time world championship medalist in relay races. He also has a victory at the World Junior Championships.
Earlier, Swedish skiers complained about low prize money in the country. “For sixth place in the race they gave me a box of fish and two sausages,” said skier Simon Andersson, emphasizing that it was impossible to pay the rent with this.
