Ivan Karpov: Spartak footballer Promes, detained in Dubai, will return to Russia
Spartak Moscow forward Quincy Promes, detained in Dubai, will return to Russia. Journalist Ivan Karpov wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
According to the journalist’s source, the football player will not be sentenced to prison – he will be fined. Promes will also not be extradited to the Netherlands, despite the fact that he has been put on the international wanted list. It is noted that on March 5 the striker will fly to Russia.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Al Maktoum Airport in Dubai. The Dutchman was taken to the police station and was accompanied by red and white security officers.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison. According to investigators, in 2019 the player was involved in transporting a large shipment of cocaine that belonged to Surinamese drug trafficker Piet Wartel. After the verdict was announced, the winger was put on the international wanted list.
