In Abu Dhabi, the 35-year-old was defeated by Andy Murray, in a duel between the players who occupied the world number one.
The tennis player Reef Nadal announced this Monday that he tested positive for covid-19 in a test that was carried out when he returned to Spain from Abu Dhabi, where he participated in an exhibition tournament.
“I’m having some unpleasant moments but I am confident that I will improve little by little, “the 35-year-old tennis player wrote on Twitter.
“I am now homebound and I have informed the people who have been in contact with me of the result, “he continued on the social network.
Nadal, who has won 20 Grand Slams in his career, explained that make the decision about your participation in future tournaments depending on the evolution of your health.
The news about his covid-19 infection comes a month after the January Australian Open in Melbourne, where Nadal had planned to participate.
Hi all. I wanted to announce that on my return home after playing the Abu Dhabi tournament, I have tested positive for COVID in the PCR test that was performed on me when I arrived in Spain.

Nadal returned from Abu Dhabi, where he participated in a tournament after more than four and a half months out with a foot injury.
In the exhibition tournament, he was defeated by Andy Murray (6-3, 7-5), in a duel between the players who occupied the world number one.
Despite the defeat, Nadal was positive for the experience. “After such a long time out, I need to recover (….) I have played better than I would have thought a few weeks ago,” said the Mallorcan.
For Nadal, the priority was to gain confidence and physical form for the first challenge of the season, the Australian Open in January in Melbourne.
The tennis player planned to return to Australia at the end of December to compete in an ATP 250 tournament, before that first Grand Slam of 2022.
