World Rowing admitted Russians to the European Olympic qualifying regatta

The International Rowing Federation (World Rowing) has admitted Russians to the European Olympic qualifying regatta. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the Russian Rowing Federation (RFR).

“A week ago, we received information from the international federation that men’s and women’s singles and doubles without a cox can compete in the European qualifying regatta,” said the FGSR President Alexey Svirin in a statement. It is noted that athletes will be required to undergo anti-doping and background checks, including for non-involvement in the SVO.

The European qualifying regatta will take place from April 25 to 28 in Hungary. The final stage of selection for the Olympics will take place in Lucerne, Switzerland from May 19 to 21.

In December 2023, the International Olympic Committee decided to admit Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics in Paris. They will be able to take part in the tournament as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the 2024 Games. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
