Hasek refused to congratulate goalie Bobrovsky, who surpassed him in NHL victories.
Olympic champion, two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek spoke about the Russian goalkeeper of the Florida Panthers, Sergei Bobrovsky, who surpassed him in victories in the National Hockey League (NHL). His words are quoted by “Championship”.
Hasek refused to congratulate Bobrovsky. “Under normal circumstances I would congratulate him. Due to the current situation, I intend to avoid various such comments – regarding both the NHL and especially Russian athletes,” he explained.
On March 3, Bobrovsky won the 390th victory in his NHL career and overtook Hasek in this indicator. The Russian came in 15th place in league history and second among European goalkeepers.
Bobrovsky has been playing in the NHL since 2010. He represented the Philadelphia Flyers and Columbus Blue Jackets, and has been playing for Florida since 2019.
