NHL club “Washington Capitals” put Evgeniy Kuznetsov in the waiver draft
The National Hockey League (NHL) club Washington Capitals put Russian forward Evgeny Kuznetsov on the waiver draft. About this on social network X wrote Sportsnet journalist Elliott Friedman.
On March 2, Kuznetsov completed his participation in the NHL Player Assistance Program and received permission to train with the team. This program exists to provide psychological support to hockey players experiencing problems, in particular with alcohol, drugs and gambling.
In September 2019, Kuznetsov was disqualified for using cocaine. The NHL suspended him for three matches, and the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) suspended him from participating in international competitions and Kontinental Hockey League matches for four years.
Kuznetsov has been playing for Washington since 2014. Together with the club, he won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
