FIFA head Infantino spoke out categorically against the introduction of blue cards
The head of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Gianni Infantino assessed the possible introduction of blue cards. His words are quoted by Sky News.
Infantino opposed this innovation. “FIFA is categorically against blue cards. Let’s show the red card to the blue card. No way,” he said.
Earlier, FIFA called talk of imminent changes to the rules premature. “Any experiments must be limited to testing at lower levels,” the statement said.
The introduction of the blue card was previously reported by The Telegraph. It is planned to be shown for intentional fouls that are more obvious than those for which a yellow card is punished. New sanctions are also provided for disagreement with match officials.
