Khabib Nurmagomedov spoke about the proposal to fight at the UFC anniversary tournament
Former Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Khabib Nurmagomedov said that he received an offer to fight at the UFC 300 tournament. His words are quoted by MMA Junkie.
Nurmagomedov said that the organizers had contacted his manager Ali Abdel-Aziz. “But I told him about a year ago: ‘It doesn’t matter who calls you, but never contact me about a fight,’” he stressed.
UFC 300 will take place in Las Vegas on April 14, 2024. The promotion attracted current and former star fighters to participate in the anniversary event. As part of UFC 300, the fights announced are Charles Oliveira – Arman Tsarukyan, Jiri Prochazka – Alexander Rakic, Calvin Kattar – Aljamain Sterling and others. Alex Pereira and Jamal Hill will fight in the main event.
Nurmagomedov previously said that he was offered $40 million to return to the Octagon. “Ending my career was not an easy decision, but if it’s made, that’s it,” he said.
Nurmagomedov defended his UFC lightweight title three times before retiring in 2020. In total, the athlete won 29 victories in 29 professional fights in mixed martial arts.
