French President Macron said he did not try to keep footballer Mbappe at PSG
French President Emmanuel Macron revealed the content of a conversation with PSG and national football team striker Kylian Mbappe at a dinner party on the occasion of the official visit of the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. His words are quoted by RMC Sport.
Macron said he did not discuss his future with the player and did not try to keep him at PSG. “I think all French people admire this great player,” the president emphasized.
The dinner party took place on February 27th. The 25-year-old football player was the only active athlete invited to the meeting. During the conversation, Macron, smiling, turned to Mbappe and said the phrase: “You will create many more problems for us.”
On February 19, Marca reported Mbappe’s agreement with Real Madrid. The parties entered into an agreement for five years. It will come into force on July 1, 2024. Before this, in the summer of 2023, Macron asked the footballer to remain on the team at least until the Olympic Games in Paris.
Mbappe is the 2018 world champion with the French national team, winner of the Nations League, and six-time French champion with PSG and Monaco. The transfer value of the 25-year-old footballer is estimated at 180 million euros.
