European Aquatics Championships 2028 proposed to be held in Kazan
President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (RSF) Vladimir Salnikov spoke about the proposal received to hold the 2028 European Aquatics Championships in Russia. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Salnikov said that European Aquatics (European Aquatics Federation) proposed holding the tournament in Kazan. “At the moment their proposals are under consideration. I can’t say yet when exactly the venue for the tournament will be finally approved,” he added.
In February 2023, the International Swimming Federation (FINA) announced the transfer of the 2025 World Aquatics Championships from Russia to Singapore. Initially, the tournament was supposed to take place in Kazan.
At the end of February 2022, many sports organizations banned Russians from participating in competitions on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee. Russia also lost the right to host many major tournaments.
