The head of the WFTU Salnikov called the IOC’s demands on Russians impossible to fulfill
The President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (RSF) Vladimir Salnikov assessed the requirements of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for neutral athletes. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Salnikov called these demands impossible to fulfill. “It is not possible to fulfill the set of requirements for neutral athletes imposed by the IOC,” noted the head of the WFTU.
Previously, three Russian swimmers refused to receive neutral status in order to compete at the 2024 Olympics. These are three-time world champion Andrei Minakov, two-time Olympic champion Evgeny Rylov and two-time Olympic medalist Kliment Kolesnikov.
On December 8 last year, the International Olympic Committee announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the 2024 Games as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not get to Paris.
