Bidaideak finishes third in the Cup after beating UCAM Murcia (66-71)
Bidaideak finished third in the Copa del Rey wheelchair basketball after beat UCAM Murcia by 66-71 in it match for third and fourth place which was played on Sunday, February 25.
Equality prevailed in the opening minutes, but from the fifth minute of play Bidaideak opened a gap on the scoreboard and achieved a nine-point lead (14-23).
At the start of the second quarter, the Bilbao team dominated. Thus, by minute 15, those led by Adrián Yánez had an advantage of 17 points (14-31). Later, however, Murcia reduced its disadvantage and the match reached half-time with a result of 28-36.
Upon resumption, the duel remained even. It was difficult for both teams to overcome their rival. In this way, Bidaideak reached the last quarter with a six-point lead (47-53).
In the first moments of the fourth quarter, Bidaideak distanced themselves on the scoreboard and managed to obtain a lead of 13 points (54-67), but Murcia did not give up and put Adrián Yánez’s team in trouble. With one minute left in the game, the Murcia team came within six points and with 24 seconds remaining they were within three points (66-69). However, Bidaideak managed the last possessions well and in the end claimed the victory (66-71).
