Bobsledder Voevoda calls on figure skater Valieva to ignore disqualification
Russian bobsledder Alexey Voevoda, stripped of two Olympic gold medals for doping, spoke out about the disqualification of figure skater Kamila Vvlieva. Gazeta.ru reports this.
The governor called on the athlete to ignore the suspension. “She can’t perform at ice shows? And who is it forbidden? The international community? Well, let. Wait: she skates in the show, but doesn’t compete in official competitions? We must remember once and for all: decisions of international authorities should not be a priority for us,” he said.
Earlier it became known that Valieva would miss the spring tour of Eteri Tutberidze’s team.
On January 29, CAS disqualified Valieva for four years. The period of suspension starts on December 25, 2021. According to the court, Valieva could not prove that she took doping unintentionally.
