Former Chinese national football coach Li Tie received life imprisonment for corruption
Former head coach of the Chinese national football team Li Tie was sentenced to life imprisonment. The Daily Mail reports this.
According to the source, the specialist arrested in November 2022 received a sentence for corruption schemes and participation in organizing match fixing. Te said that he paid a bribe to lead the Chinese team.
“I’m really sorry. I should have walked the right path. There were certain things that were common practice in football at the time. Achieving “success” through such dishonest means, I became increasingly impatient and craved quick results,” admitted Te.
The coach worked for the Chinese national team from 2019 to 2021. He also headed several Chinese clubs. During his football career, Te played not only in teams in his homeland, but also in the English Everton and Sheffield United.
