Coach Tarasova was delighted with the support of figure skater Valieva by President Putin
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova appreciated the support of figure skater Kamila Valieva from Russian President Vladimir Putin. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Tarasova said she was happy for Valieva, whom Putin placed next to him at the opening of the Future Games in Kazan. “I’m glad for the girl and that we have such a president of the country,” she commented.
Earlier, Kremlin official Dmitry Peskov commented on the fact that at the opening of the Games of the Future, Putin was sitting next to the figure skater. He said that the head of state supports Valieva, who was disqualified for doping.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years. The period of suspension starts on December 25, 2021. The athlete and her partners on the Russian national team were deprived of gold for winning the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
