UFC head White said Putin gave Nurmagomedov real estate in Russia
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White spoke about the gift from Russian President Vladimir Putin to the organization’s former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. His words are quoted by the YouTube channel Games With Names.
White said Putin gave the athlete and his father real estate in Russia worth $20 million. “When Khabib reached this level of fame, we talked to him as if we were talking to Conor McGregor,” the UFC head emphasized.
In November 2019, Nurmagomedov spoke about his meetings with Putin. The fighter learned that the president copes with the frantic pace of life and stress by playing sports and leading a healthy lifestyle.
Nurmagomedov retired in 2020. He won the UFC lightweight title in 2018 and defended it three times against Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje before announcing his retirement from the sport. The undefeated Russian won 29 victories in fights under MMA rules.
