On January 28, Elżbieta Liberda, a legal advisor specializing in real estate law and an expert on the housing market – Piotr Turalski, appeared in “Pytanie na śnidanie” on TVP2. Katarzyna Dowbor and Filip Antonowicz talked to the guests about the so-called flipping, i.e. the quick sale of apartments. As Wirtualne Media wrote at the time, after the episode was broadcast, the National Broadcasting Council received complaints.
Elżbieta Liberda caused a scandal in “PnŚ”. She returned to TVP
All because of Liberda’s unfortunate choice of words. The “Questions for Breakfast” guest talked about selling apartments with a complicated legal status, apartments in debt or apartments that still have tenants. “Of course, then they are cheaper because you have to clean them up a bit. Then, by regulating the legal status, we create a product that can be sold,” the expert said. The word “clean up” outraged viewers because it was clearly associated with reprivatization and “tenement house cleaners”. The phenomena are inextricably linked to the suffering and drama of people thrown out of their homes.
Despite the scandal, Liberda quickly returned to TVP. Less than a month after her controversial statement, the expert appeared on TVP again. This time she visited the TVP Info station, where she discussed how to deal with problematic tenants who do not pay rent, e.g. mothers with children. Liberda’s presence on Polish Television again caused outrage.
The controversial expert is back on TVP. Viewers say this is a mistake
Those commenting on the material admit that the issue of tenants not paying rent is a big problem in Poland. However, they are not happy that a recently infamous expert has become a commentator on the case again. “Keep showing it and I guarantee you will lose the next election,” writes one viewer. “We are growing a new TVP star,” added another.
