The head of the UFC remembered the fight between Nurmagomedov and McGregor

UFC head White on Nurmagomedov’s fight with McGregor: it didn’t do us any good

President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White recalled the fight that happened after the fight between Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov and Irishman Conor McGregor. His words are quoted by the YouTube channel Games With Names.

“We prepared, but it still happened. Of course, the situation disappointed us. Many people think that we were happy, but it didn’t do us any good,” admitted the head of the UFC. White added that he considers his promotion to be the best in the world. “We must set an example for others,” he concluded.

Nurmagomedov and McGregor met in the Octagon on October 6, 2018, with the Russian fighter defending his UFC lightweight title. During the promotion of the fight, McGregor repeatedly insulted Nurmagomedov’s family and religious beliefs. As a result, after winning the fight, the Russian athlete jumped out of the cage and got into a fight with the Irishman’s seconds, and Nurmagomedov’s corners attacked McGregor. The conflict was stopped with the help of the police.

As a result of the fight, Nurmagomedov was disqualified for 12 months and fined 500 thousand dollars, McGregor was suspended for six months and fined 50 thousand dollars. Russian UFC fighters Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Zubaira Tukhugov, who acted as Nurmagomedov’s seconds and participated in the brawl, received a 12-month disqualification and a fine of 25 thousand dollars each.

Previously, White refused to consider Nurmagomedov the best fighter in history. The head of the UFC said that he considers the American Jon Jones to be such, and that he “would like to see more” from Khabib.
