It is noted that the main candidates for the position, which will become vacant on June 30, 2024, are Spaniard Xabi Alonso and Frenchman Zinedine Zidane. The club management gives preference to Alonso, and the media have previously reported interest in Zidane.
Bayern’s decision to part ways with Tuchel became known earlier on February 21. The German specialist, who headed the club last spring, will leave the team early; initially, his contract was valid until June 2025. The decision was mutual and is likely due to the unsatisfactory results of the Munich team this season.
As a player, Alonso played for Bayern, with which he became the German champion three times and won the country’s Cup and Super Cup once.
