Oleg Matytsin said that the best athletes in Russia have no problems with motivation
Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin assessed the motivation of the country’s best athletes in the context of international sanctions. His words are quoted by TASS.
According to him, the athletes do not experience any problems, as their results at the 2024 Spartakiad proved. “Skier Alexander Bolshunov became a five-time Spartakiad champion. The result of figure skater Adelia Petrosyan is more than 25 points higher than the result of the winner of the Grand Prix final in figure skating this season,” Matytsin noted.
Earlier, biathlete Evgeny Sidorov compared the Spartakiad to the World Championships. According to him, the Russian launch cannot replace the international one.
At the end of February – beginning of March 2022, many international sports organizations suspended Russian athletes from competitions under their auspices. In some events, athletes from the Russian Federation perform in a neutral status.
