Rodnina admitted that Valieva would not have a chance to become an Olympic champion
Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina assessed the chances of Russian Kamila Valieva to become the winner of the Games. Her words are quoted by RB Sport.
In her opinion, this depends on many factors. “We are now suspended, and it is unknown whether the skaters will take part in the 2026 Olympics. I admit the idea that Valieva may no longer have a chance to become an Olympic champion,” Rodnina said.
On February 17, it became known that Valieva would release a song with the popular Russian singer Mia Boyka. The premiere is scheduled for April 26.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years for doping. The period of disqualification starts from December 25, 2021. According to the court, the athlete could not prove that she took the prohibited drug trimetazidine, which was found in her sample, unintentionally.
