Conte highlights unity of Tottenham players against covid-19 crisis

Tottenham has not lived its best days. The club confirmed 13 cases of covid-19 between players and coaching staff, and had several games postponed. In an interview with Sky Sports, coach Antonio Conte explained how the crisis shook the club and the importance of the team’s unity behind the scenes.

“Honestly, this time is not easy. We have three games that we have to play, we don’t know when, and we don’t know if, in the future, other games will be postponed. We worked very well for two weeks and then the problems started”, he said.

In addition to the duel against Rennes, in the Conference League, two games for the Premier League were cancelled. The matches against Brighton, valid for the 16th round, and against Leicester, for the 17th, could not happen.

Despite the complexities, the team has been shaping up behind the scenes. Conte says that because many players were affected, the team came together to support the squad.

“Many players were affected by the covid, so we had a lot of training with just 11 or 12 players. It’s not easy: it takes the whole squad to work,” said the coach.

“The players worked to try to improve and to follow our tactical idea. The unity I discovered at Tottenham is very important,” he concluded.
