Medvedev said that winning the Grand Slam is more important than Olympic gold
Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev chose between winning the Grand Slam tournament and the Olympic Games. His words are quoted by Eurosport.
Medvedev said that the Grand Slam title is more important to him than Olympic gold. “The Olympics are a very important event that every player dreams of winning, but the Grand Slams, in my opinion, have the advantage and are more important in tennis,” he said.
The Russian added that the Grand Slams, the Olympic Games and the Finals are very important. “These tournaments are the same because when you are there, you experience the wow factor. To win them, you have to be at your best level,” the tennis player shared.
Medvedev has one Grand Slam victory to his name – he won the US Open in 2021. The Russian also became the best at the Final Tournament of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in 2020. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Medvedev reached the quarterfinals.
