The State Duma called on Spartak not to abandon the player on the international wanted list

Deputy Svishchev called on Spartak not to abandon Promes, who is on the wanted list.

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev called on the Moscow Spartak not to abandon football player Quincy Promes, convicted of drugs in the Netherlands and put on the international wanted list. The deputy shared his opinion in a conversation with Lenta.ru.

“The situation is difficult. This includes psychological pressure and certain restrictions on his actions. Therefore, of course, it will be difficult for him. But I have been saying for a long time that Spartak cannot abandon this story and must resolve it. It was necessary to communicate with the prosecutor’s office and carry out judicial procedures. I don’t know how to act now, this is a difficult process,” said Svishchev.

According to the deputy, putting a football player on the international wanted list is a problem for both the player himself and the club.

“This is their player, when they invited him, they took responsibility. I believe that it will be a difficult process for Spartak. It’s definitely impossible to leave him now,” he concluded.

Earlier it became known that Spartak Moscow legionnaire Quincy Promes, convicted in the Netherlands, was put on the international wanted list. According to the press secretary of the Amsterdam prosecutor’s office, Franklin Wattimena, the Dutch authorities tried to bring the player to his homeland, but this has not yet led to his extradition.

On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison. According to investigators, in 2019 the forward was involved in transporting a large amount of cocaine belonging to Surinamese drug trafficker Piet Wartel.
