Exchange rate: dollar begins its last weekly session rising at S/3.8448 this Friday the 16th

The dollar exchange rate began its last weekly session on the rise and stood at S/3.8448 this Friday, February 16, according to preliminary data from the Bloomberg international currency exchange portal.

The day before, the greenback had started its career at S/3.8695 and then progressed to S/3.8400 marked by the official board of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP).

At the local level, the Peruvian economy recorded its worst decline in 31 years and had a decline, due to the recession, of -0.55% in 2023, ratios not seen since 1992 when El Niño hit the Peruvian coasts.

In addition, the SNMPE confirmed that four companies, including CNPC, showed their interest in accessing the new contract for Lot X of Talara, which the Government is evaluating in order to revert to Petroperú.

At the international level, it was confirmed that Germany surpassed Japan as the third most important economy in the world, after the Japanese nation registered a contraction of 0.1% in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) forecasts that growth in global oil demand for 2024 will remain unchanged at 2.2 million barrels per day, as revealed in its monthly bulletin.
