The Ministry of Sports said that 34 countries have registered to participate in the Friendship Games
Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Alexey Morozov announced the number of countries registered to participate in the Friendship Games. His words are quoted by TASS.
Morozov said that 34 countries have registered in this movement. He emphasized that Russia is promoting the thesis that sport is outside of politics. “Athletes often have only one chance to prove themselves at a high level. Elite sport is the locomotive of our entire system for mass sports,” the politician added.
In November 2023, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, made a statement about holding the Friendship Games by Russia. Bach considered that it was too early to talk about the consequences for Moscow due to the organization of the competition.
In 2024, the Friendship Games will be held in Moscow and Yekaterinburg, and Kazan will host the Future Games and the BRICS Games.
