The Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) reported that traditional and non-traditional exports accumulated their third consecutive year of growth in 2023.
According to the highest issuing entity, shipments were boosted thanks to higher shipments, in the case of traditional ones, and by prices, in the case of non-traditional ones.
In this way, sales abroad of traditional products reached a total of US$48.6 billion in 2023, which implied a growth of 1.8% compared to 2002. This result was driven by greater shipments abroad of mining products ( 11.6%).
According to the BCRP, non-traditional exports amounted to US$18,424 million, a value that implied an increase of 1.1% year-on-year, motivated by the higher prices of agricultural products (11%).

At the level of shipments by value, frozen squid recorded the highest annual growth, with 37.5%, favored by the weather conditions in the first half; followed by fresh grapes (28.1%) and blueberries (23.6%), where both products are the main exports in 2023.
Furthermore, the main destination of non-traditional products remained in the United States and those with the greatest growth were China (higher sales of seafood products) and the rest of Asia such as Hong Kong.
