Ukrainian Grushin refused a photo with Russian Allahyarov at the European Wrestling Championships
Ukrainian Alexander Grushin refused to be photographed with the winner and prize-winners of the European Wrestling Championship at the award ceremony. Tribuna reports this.
The athlete did this because of the presence on the podium of the Russian Anvar Allahyarov, who won bronze. Grushin became a silver medalist. The rest of the ceremony participants – Azerbaijani Murad Mamedov, who won gold, and Bulgarian Edmond Nazaryan, who took second bronze – hugged Allahyarov and took a joint photo. The competitors competed in Greco-Roman wrestling in the weight category up to 63 kilograms.
On February 13, Russian freestyle wrestler Sergei Semenov won a gold medal at the European Championships in the weight category up to 130 kilograms. In the final fight, the Russian was opposed by the representative of Turkey, Ryzu Kayaalp.
The European Wrestling Championships are taking place in Bucharest and will end on February 18. Russians were allowed to participate in the tournament in a neutral status.
