A suspect in the murder of Ukrainian basketball player Ermakov has been detained in Germany.
A suspect in the murder of 17-year-old Ukrainian basketball player Vladimir Ermakov was detained in Germany. Bild reports this.
According to the source, he turned out to be a 15-year-old schoolboy of German-Turkish origin, who had previously committed attacks and robberies. In total, he inflicted nine stab wounds to Ermakov and his friend Artem Kozachenko in the chest and stomach.
The conflict occurred on the evening of February 11 in Oberhausen. The young people started a fight when they got off the bus heading to the station. “They were attacked with knives on the street simply because they were Ukrainians. The whole team spent the night in the hospital next to our guys. Unfortunately, doctors were unable to save Ermakov, and Kozachenko remains in intensive care,” the Kyiv Basketball Federation said.
Ermakov and Kozachenko played for the youth team ART Giants (U-19) from Dusseldorf. As a member of the Ukrainian youth team (U-16), Ermakov competed at the 2022 European Championships in Bulgaria.
