The Tungurahua Sports Federation will sign an agreement with the higher education center. Escenario is home to soccer teams from Ambate.
Estadio Bellavista Universidad Indoamérica will be the name of the well-known stage in Ambato administered by the Sports Federation of Tungurahua (FDT) and where the soccer clubs of the Land of Flowers and Fruits that compete in professionalism act as locals.
The change will take place after it is agreed to sign an agreement between the provincial body and the center for higher studies. According to a press release, on December 23, Saúl Lara, chancellor and founder of the Indoamérica University, and Jorge Jarrín, president of the FDT, will sign the agreement.
According to the information, the university will contribute with the sponsorship to the events carried out by the federation and, in addition, with student scholarships.
“We want to give the opportunity to boys, girls and young athletes to achieve their dreams, especially those with limited financial resources. I experienced how hard it is to study at a university without financial support, so I want to compensate those who trust in Indo-America ”, said Lara.
For his part, Jarrín, whose administration covers the four-year period between 2020 and 2023, declared: “Our youth need, from the beginning of their sports careers, to have the necessary support to grow and achieve important achievements.”
Bellavista is home to Macará and Technical University, LigaPro Serie A clubs. Another, Mushuc Runa, who opened his own stadium at the end of 2018, also plays on the FDT stage if circumstances dictate.
The sports complex was inaugurated in 1945. It was one of the venues for the 1993 Copa América, hosting first phase matches, as well as other competitions. (D)
