Russian Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin broke one of the records of Canadian Wayne Gretzky. This was reported on the website of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Ovechkin scored a goal in the third period of the regular season match against the Boston Bruins (3:0). For the Russian, this goal into an empty net was the 57th in his career.
