Alexander Bolshunov won the sprint at the 2024 Spartakiad
Three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov won the classic style sprint at the 2024 Spartakiad. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
The athlete covered the distance in 4 minutes and 11.55 seconds. Sergei Ardashev took second place, losing 0.56 seconds to the winner. The top three were rounded out by Olympic champion Alexey Chervotkin. He lost to Bolshunov by 1.84 seconds.
The Spartakiad takes place from February 9 to 18 in five constituent entities of the Russian Federation: Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk and Tyumen regions, as well as Krasnodar and Krasnoyarsk territories. In addition to the Russians, representatives of Belarus are taking part in the tournament, who compete outside the standings.
Last April, the head coach of the Russian cross-country skiing team, Yuri Borodavko, complained about the lack of competitors for Bolshunov. He noted that he would like to see more wrestling at domestic tournaments.
