Russian judge Nikolaev did not support the appearance of a blue card in football
Russian referee Alexey Nikolaev assessed the possible appearance of a blue card in football. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
According to the referee, he treats all innovations very carefully and does not support the initiative. “For me, red and yellow cards are a classic option, and I don’t think there’s a need to come up with anything else,” Nikolaev said.
The arbitrator added that another innovation is currently being tested. “After viewing the controversial situation at the monitor, the judges announce the decision in front of the fans,” Nikolaev said.
The introduction of the blue card was previously reported by The Telegraph. It is planned to be shown for intentional fouls, which are more obvious than those for which a yellow card is punished. New sanctions are also provided for disagreement with match officials.
